Ok, I went through my process to figure out just what I use and what I don't on a given batch of mead.
I have my prices figured, flavored batch and rockbitter. I also broke it down to if I don't provide the glass and don't provide the fruit.
I have it to the batch, six pack, and bottle of the prices after the glass. My costs. It is good to understand how much your hobbie costs.
I did not include lable cost. Most of the time I don't lable it anyway. Get's in the way of chilling it on ice. Need to get some water proof lables some time.
No I am not going to post my prices here. Since it is Illegal for me to sell it, Mostly I am not selling it. Trading for equal value or donations that would include some instruction on the process I went through on the mead can be a diffrent story. My prices are not as bad as I though.
Unfortunately, Honey price went from $1.70 pound in bulk to $1.95 pound, in the 42 pound buckets. I use about 20 pounds in a 5 gal batch. So it is worth it to buy in bulk. That and glass is my highest expenses.
I hope to be bottling on Saturday. This will be bottling of the Vanilla Almond and Pear Nutmeg. I think I need to rack Hagrid's Secret Stash one more time prior to bottleing, maybe two.
I may have a lead on some used bottles, though they are 22 oz and not 12 oz. It would mean less bottles and a diffrent price per 6 pack. Ah well. If I can get them cheap, great.
