While several very good discoveries have been made, bee hive death is still a reality and the prices of honey still go up. :(
I'm uncovering my brewing tool, dusting everything off and getting ready to resume brewing once we've bought a house. I haven't looked into honey suppliers here in Minnesota yet, but my old suppliers in Wisconsin have prices similar to what you're seeing.
I'll probably start with a couple of beers, in styles that are hard-to-find or expensive (Belgian tripels, lambic) before trying my hand at meads again. Less costly materials, and I get something to drink sooner as well.
