Well, I raked "The Limey" for the first time last night.

When I put together the batch I used about the same recipie as the Rockbitter except I did use 1 cup of lime juice.  I put 3 more cups in the secondary.  This is in a 5 galon batch, actually it turned out to be almost 6 gallons.  A bit more than the previous batch.  While Racking the Limey I noticed that the color was MUCH lighter than I expected.  Surely one cup in an entire gallon shouldn't make that much of a diffrence.  The Rock Biter was a nice darkish brown  and the Limey turned out to be a carmel like tan.  Odd.  Although it did do it's frenzy of primary fermentation for about 1 1/2 weeks there was very little sediment when I raked it.  Odd.  It was very opaque too.  Hmm, possibly it will start fermenting again.  I wonder how much the lime juice has affected the acidity levels.  I wonder if I should be looking for another frenzy of fermentation.  I was thinking that it may turn out dryer and more alcoholic than I want.  I was going for a slightly less sweet batch but using the same amount of honey.  I wonder what will happen.

NED's Happy Place Mead.
On other news, I juiced 2 basketball sized watermellons.  Put it through the blender then filtered the pulp through a screen.  Twice through a fine screen.  Then the pulp through the blender again.  Got a few more cups of juice out of it then ran that through the screen twice.  It is sitting in the frige now.  Looks to be settled a bit with a bit more pulp.  Not much.  All told it made about a gallon and a half  of juice.  Looks pretty.  This will go with one packet of yeast and 20 pounds of wild flower honey.  Going to use it in the primary with about 3 gallons of water.  Should make a 6 gallon batch easy.

More after it has been started.
